BODYSOUL EXPRESSIONS™ MASK MAKING INTENSIVE

In this Maskmaking Intensive, we will begin the work of healing the feminine split within a woman’s psyche where the unexpressed anger, rage, sadness and grief lie dormant and wreak havoc.  The myth of Athena (a father's daughter) and Medusa (the wounded feminine) will be used as a framework to illustrate this dynamic within a woman's psyche.  These archetypal characters are known by most women today, even if the story is not.  The inner dynamic they illustrate is especially relevant in the current era of #MeToo.

Mornings will be spent in exploration and discussion, working with the mythological archetypes and the dreams that arise from the group.   Afternoons will be devoted to consciously working with these energies through body and voice work followed by a time of reflection to journal or creatively express your experience.  The maskmaking process will fill our evenings.

By holding the sessions in two parts with six months in between, the participant is allowed to ease into this archetypal work at a slower pace and encouraged to practice containment in between gatherings.  At the end of the first session, participants will leave with a blank mask and a more personal understanding of the feminine split.  By the end of the second session, participants will leave with a completed mask and a deeper appreciation of the inner allies and worthy adversaries that have been with us on the journey into the inner landscape as we make the descent necessary to return with the treasure, the lost pieces of our soul.

This workshop is designed to allow for the healing of heart, body, mind, and soul and to practice integrating  the lost or undeveloped parts of our soul.   At the end of the series, each participant will come away with a completed mask expressing her own individual material. It is a great way to experience the BodySoul training of Marion Woodman, Jungian Analyst, Mary Hamilton, Body Work, and Ann Skinner, Voice Work and to integrate what arises with facilitated creative process.
