Begin

Launching canoes into a lake.
On the Brink

"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more."  W.Shakespeare

Begin today.

Begin even though the decision isn't made.

Begin despite the judgement of unworthiness and lack.

Begin because the call has been made and will not be denied.

Begin because there is nothing else to do.

To begin is to reclaim one’s story. It is an opportunity to speak, to see, to act and to know from one’s own standpoint. It is a gathering of courage for a new way of being in the world. All the stored up constriction holds like an old dam valiantly keeping the waters from flowing but the pressure is great and the volume too much and the water is pouring over.

Surrender, I say, let the dam break and fall.

Surrender. Rush full on into the battle.

Let go of that which would keep pain at bay.

Open to vulnerability.

Dig deep for the false beliefs that breed fear, face them and make a new choice.

Take small actions, they are the little lessons that create new understandings.

Stop pretending to be what you think others expect you to be,

that is the formula for a life half-lived.

Do not hide away for fear of being misunderstood.

And forgive yourself for not knowing what you are here to learn.

Whatever your story has been, . . . safety, conformity, productivity, silence, perfection . . ., choose the great act of surrender and write the next chapter of life with new rules.

Live open to the pain, disappointment, surprise, loss and the love that life offers.

Let’s write our stories by daring to love ourselves, by daring to love one another, by removing judgement and fear, and mostly, by staying conscious.

Do not fall asleep.
